Mark Steyn on Flukemania

The always insightful and hilarious Mark Steyn finally weighs in on the charade surrounding the 30 year old child, Sandra Fluke’s perfectly sensible demand that we pay for her contraception and that a Catholic institution should be forced to violate its religious principles in order to accommodate her. That president Obama and the Democrats gleefully used this useful idiot to advance their big government desires granting the plebes protection for their sexual romps while stealing liberty with the other hand is not really surprising.

Bread and Circus. And Condoms.

Fantastic artwork from iMaksim. Click on the image to embiggen it.

All of us are born with the unalienable right to life, liberty, and a lifetime supply of premium ribbed silky-smooth ultrasensitive spermicidal lubricant condoms. No taxation without rubberization, as the Minutemen said. The shot heard round the world, and all that.

He’ll be filling in for Rush on Monday, so if you don’t want to go read the whole thing, I’m sure a portion of it will be covered then.

Aside from the sheer ridiculousness of the phoney congressional hearing, and aside from the moral implications, and aside from a government imposing tyrannical dictates on the people, the issue Steyn focuses on is whether this debtor nation can afford to do what Obama and the Democrats want to do.

Should we borrow money from China to pay for Sandra Fluke’s rampant promiscuity?

A Plea for Government Provided Birth Control

It is a lovely evening here in central Virginia.  The temperature is mild and a gentle breeze is blowing. The first signs of Spring are appearing.

There is a full moon rising and shimmering over the small pond in the back yard.  The peepers are peeping and the Canadian geese are making a ruckus as they engage in their spring time biological imperative.  By mid-spring we’ll be flush with goslings and by mid-summer we’ll be over run with geese, crapping all over the lawn and arguing amongst themselves at all hours of the night, making a general nuisance of themselves.

Mr. Obama, I think these geese are Catholic, so if you could see to it that they are force fed birth control I’d be mighty grateful.

Attention Mitt and Rick: This is how it’s done

I saw this exchange between Newt and David Gregory on “Meet the Press” this morning and this is how the Republicans need to handle the biased left wing media if they are to win in November.

What is it they say a picture is worth?

Stay classy, Margaret Doyle. Stay classy.

Republican Debate: Newt Offers Best Response of the Night

We all knew that the left would hammer on the issue of contraception and abortion in last night’s debate going into it, and the crowd reacted with disdain when the topic came up, but Newt Gingrich simply put the head butt on John King, the CNN moderator, with his response. He also delivered a body blow to the President. It was last night’s Ultimate Fight Club moment.

Who is the extremist in this race? Well played, Mr. Gingrich. Well played, indeed.

Komen caves to shrieking baby killers. Saddleburr screwed.

Regrettably, the glowing post I did in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood was premature, as they have just reversed their decision.

Unfortunately, I donated fifty bucks after my blog post and now I can’t seem to get through to them on the telephone to demand a refund.  I’m not giving up.

Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer fund breaks ties with Planned Parenthood…

… and the proabortionists have gone ballistic, unleashing their hate machine on the charitable organization.  Here’s a segment of an email from Daily KOS, for example.

Yesterday, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, the nation’s largest charity dedicated to stopping breast cancer, announced it was pulling all funding for breast cancer prevention, screenings and education at Planned Parenthood health centers. In so doing, Susan G. Komen for the Cure joined with anti-choice crusaders like Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Cliff Stearns (R-FL) who are trying to shut down Planned Parenthood entirely.

Cancer screening and prevention comprises 17 percent of Planned Parenthood’s services. For many low-income women, Planned Parenthood is their only source of health care. By going along with anti-choice extremists who are determined to put Planned Parenthood out of business, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is essentially saying it doesn’t matter if low-income women get breast cancer.

Send an email to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, telling them that this is disgusting and unacceptable. The public outrage over their decision must be as big as possible in order to make sure no other major charities follow suit.

I left the link to Komen in the quote so that you can write them and congratulate them for doing the right thing.  Hitting their Donate button wouldn’t hurt either.

UPDATE!!!  Like a dumbass I didn’t click the link to contact SGK and assumed, like an idiot, that my message would go to SGK, but it looks like it goes to the murderous, eugenist bastards at the Daily KOmmuniSt, willful abetters to the smug SOBs responsible for the murder of millions.  Here’s the real link to their site  I apologize for my blog sloppiness.  But anybody who gave DailyKommie an eyeful, like I did, can rest assured that somebody saw it, even if it wasn’t SGK.

Virginia Society for Human Life works to protect the unborn child.

The Virginia Society for Human Life, the nation’s oldest pro-life organization, is looking to change the face of the pro-abortion majority in the Virginia Senate. The VSHL was founded in 1967, before Roe v. Wade, in reaction to an effort by dissident elements in the fields of law, medicine, public health and eugenics to “liberalize” abortion laws and continues to this day to work for the restoration of the protection of the life of the unborn child in law and public policy.

.In a recent interview with World Magazine, VSHL President, Olivia Gans, discussed the organization and their focus in the near term. While the VSHL is pleased with the passage of abortion clinic regulations in the last legislative session, she cautions Pro-Lifers must understand that while these regulations are important, they should be seen as a beginning point for a much larger conversation about protecting the unborn child.

Ms. Gans went on to state that right now,the single most important thing is this fall’s Senate elections. She points out that the pro-abortion majority in the Virginia Senate has been primarily holding up all major pro-life legislation for the past six years or more and they do not represent the pro-life view of the commonwealth of Virginia.

The Society is also talking to legislators about passing legislation that says no abortion can be performed after a baby can feel pain. Similar legislation has already been passed in Nebraska, Kansas, Alabama and Oklahoma. Scientists have measured that the child can feel pain from 20 weeks.

Gans would like to encourage people to go to the National Right to Life website (nrlc.org) and the website for VSHL (vshl.org). and get involved, if only to get on the email list. She said the VHSL is desperately in need of more talent, people who are good writers, artists, people who want to learn to be speakers or do computer work. I agree with the president when she stated, “This is probably one of the most exciting things you could ever do because your efforts will be used to promote human life in Virginia.”

How quickly can we build 74 miles of pipeline?

Not quickly enough, but it appears that Alaska is shovel ready and the flow of oil could be available within months.

H/T: Pedro

Our national energy policy is…lacking in energy. Quite frankly, it’s an abomination.

When was the last time Obama had to fill up, out of his own pocket, his Yukon, his Air Force One, his Marine One?

This man is a horror. Second syllable of horror is optional.

But I digress.

McDonnell Must Act on Cuccinelli’s Ruling on Abortion Clinics

Back in August when Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli ruled that Virginia has the legal right to regulate abortion clinics in the same manner it currently regulates hospitals and surgery centers the pro abortion advocates claimed it to be merely an attempt to make abortion inaccessible.

The Attorney Generals office cited patient safety concerns. “The state has long regulated outpatient surgical facilities and personnel to ensure a certain level of protection for patients. There is no reason to hold facilities providing abortion services to any lesser standard for their patients,” said Brian J. Gottstein, a spokesman for Mr. Cuccinelli.

A horrid story of bloody late-term abortions may now lead to increased regulation and oversight of these outpatient abortuaries. Dr. Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia doctor, his wife and eight other suspects are now under arrest in Philadelphia.

Gosnell faces eight counts of murder in the deaths of a woman following a botched abortion at his office, along with the deaths of seven babies who, prosecutors allege, were born alive following illegal late-term abortions and were then killed with scissors, reports CBS NEWS.

Gosnell, 69, made millions of dollars over 30 years, performing as many illegal, late-term abortions as he could, prosecutors said. State regulators ignored complaints about him and failed to visit or inspect his clinic since 1993, but no charges were warranted against them, District Attorney Seth Williams said.

Gosnell “induced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies by cutting into the back of the neck with scissors and severing their spinal cord,” Williams said.

The grand jury report states that Gosnell’s office was filthy; cat litter was apparently found inside the office.

Four of the suspects, some improperly licensed, also face multiple counts of murder for allegedly killing the newborns. All of the suspects are now behind bars after warrants were served overnight.

Authorities went to investigate drug-related complaints at the clinic last year and stumbled on what Williams called a “house of horrors.”

“There were bags and bottles holding aborted fetuses were scattered throughout the building,” Williams said. “There were jars, lining shelves, with severed feet that he kept for no medical purpose.”

Governor McDonnell has been slow to act, he must now act and move to addressing medical and safety aspects of providing abortions, as well as the record keeping and administrative practices of abortion clinics so we do not suffer a Philadelphia-like tragedy in Virginia.
